Some Lemon Magic!

Updated: Feb 18, 2023

Lemons aren't just for making Lemonade, or as an accompaniment to tea. Lemon is so versatile that aside from the many ways you can eat it and cook with it, you can use it for cleaning as well!

Here's some of the ways you can use Lemon for cleaning!

> As Deodorizer for Refrigerators, Ovens, and Dishwashers.

You can cut it up and place it inside a refrigerator, or a dishwasher to replace the stale smell, with a fresh citrus scent, instead

You can put sliced pieces in some water, put it in the microwave and turn it on for maybe 3-5 mins. Once that's done, let it sit in there, for the same length of time, and it will do the same thing.

> As an Air Freshener

There are some concerns that some air fresheners may be harmful to the health, because of their chemical components.

In that case, why not try an organic solution? Here's an air freshener recipe using a Lemon Juice base:

Ingredients:

1 cup hot water 1/16th cup baking soda 1/4th cup lemon juice

Directions:

1. Combine water and baking soda in a bowl. Stir until powder is fully dissolved. 2. Add the lemon juice slowly. It might fizz, so add little by little so it doesn't spill over, then transfer the mixture to a bottle . 4. Store in a cool, dark place, when not in use.

You can easily google Lemon Juice Air Freshener, if you would like to find more recipes!

> As a Stain Remover

You can try cutting a lemon in half and rubbing it against glass, or chrome fixtures (not gold-plated ones, though). The citric acid should cut right through the hard water stain / limescale buildup.

By sprinkling some salt on half a lemon and rubbing it against your copper pots and pans, it should help remove hardened food, or grease stains, still stubbornly clinging to it.

You can use this solution for plastic cutting boards, too!

These are only some of the ways you can use Lemon to clean your home.
